E3 2009: Sony Press Conference

Sony's Press Conference really delivered some surprises though where spoiled prior to their presentation. My favorites where the following 3...

1. Final Fantasy XIV Online was revealed even before the release of Final Fantasy XIII. This looks to be the successor to Final Fantasy XI. They showed a CG trailer but no in game trailers just of yet. The classes seems to be the likes of it's predecessor. I just hope it wasn't as slow as it was. I am a hardcore FF fan and forced myself to play XI and I enjoyed it presonally. But with my other gamer friends playing the game, they didn't have the same sentiments. Lets all hope that this one will make it big. Let's give Square, the best RPG makers in my opinion, another chanced in the MMORPG realm.

2. ICO's creator Fumito Ueda finally reveals its new nexgen game The Last Guardian codenamed Trico. I love this team because they are not pressured and will not be pressured to a release date. They concentrate on the quality of the game and will put their full power and creative knowledge and know how to make it the best game and they have done this with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. And now Last Guardian, looking just as stunning and incredibly amazing. The best graphics in a game I have seen up to date. The feathers on the creature was staggering. Each feather moved in its own physics and the game play and the kid was just awesome. The music really give an epic feel to the whole presentation. This will surely live up to its reputation no doubt about it.

3. God of War III was the closer of the whole conference. Looking ever so stunning and everything that the series has been made famous. Showing Harpies, Chimeras and giants, the demo had to be cut short because of time. God of War will surely live up to the expectations of God of War fans everywhere.

That was it with Sony. I expected it to be dull and short of expectations for Sony fanboys because of the bombs of Microsoft with the Kojima surprise and the introduction of Project Natal but they didn't let that stand in Sony's way. They have surely delivered.

That's it, Sony is coming back!

E3 2009: Microsoft Press Conference

Lots of things was announced to the public from Microsoft. Probably the major announcement was Project Natal.

But before we get into that lets talk about the other big announcements that I am taking note of.

1. Final Fantasy XIII in-game graphics on the Xbox 360. This was awesome and who ever said that PS3 games won't look as good as it would on the 360 is completely incorrect. Square probably makes the best graphics in any game and for this company to push the graphical boundries of the PS3 and make it look just like it on the 360 just states that the 360 can make any game they conjour up on the Sony system, graphically anyways.

2. Kojima has now joined the team of supporters for Microsoft. They have announced that they have rights to the Metal Gear Solid francise but the game that they have revealed for the first time was Metal Gear Solid: Rising with main character Raiden. I don't know about this move. Not alot of people really like Raiden. Everybody loves Solid Snake so please just give us more that. Everyone said Metal Gear Solid 2 sucked because of Raiden so it will be a challenge for Kojima to pull another blockbuster game. But since it's still MGS, I'm still buying it.

3. Now the biggest announcement was Project Natal. Is Microsoft copying Nintendo or is this a new thing. There is no controller. The Natal paripheral senses your whole body. You can walk, you can jump, you can swing, turn, almost about anything and it will sense it. They even stated that it is a real-time motion capture device. In the beginning they showed Tony Hawk RIDE and then they show this and showing a kid playing askateboarding game using Natal. This kinda messes up the marketing of the Tony Hawk game. This also finally makes Xbox 360 the 2nd competitor in the motion interactive gaming. But Microsoft is no controller. So many ideas will emerge from this concept of gaming. I say there will be a controller vs. no-controller culture that will take over the industry. What are you predictions?

So those are the highlights of the Microsoft Press Conference. There are lots more big announcements like Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake dated, Left 4 Dead 2 and others.

360 Outsells PS3 for the 2nd Time in Japan

For the 2nd time in history Xbox 360 has outsold the PS3. The last time this happened was the release of Final Fantasy creator Sakaguchi's Lost Odyssey!

But that's not the amazing part of the article. Xbox 360 has outsold the PS3 nearly 3 times more. The actual numbers? PS3 sold 9,673 and the Xbox 360 with 24,962. That's 19,000 more then the previous month for the xbox 360.

So why the sudden boost of sales for Microsoft in the land of the rising sun? The only game that Japan cares for... Final Fantasy! Last month, Yoichi Wada, President of Square-Enix, announced Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360 along with the JRPG line up consisting of The Last Remnant, a new Star Ocean game, and Infinite Undiscovery.

But Final Fantasy XIII isn't coming out for the 360 in Japan you say? Yes but also a factor that might of resulted in this is the price cut. The new SKU rumored to be at $399.99 120GB, $299.99 60GB, clearance 279.99 20GB, and $199.99 256MB might of happened a bit earlier in Japan.

Eventhough all these things that might of caused it, my conclusion is that in Japan all they care about is JRPGs and once a big project like Lost Odyssey and Final Fantasy is around the corner, the local japanese folks are willing to spend that money to get their fantasies fulfilled.

But all in all my bottom line is... japanese girls are HOT!

E3 Sony Press Conference impressions

Not as impressive I must say. I found myself waiting the whole time. And when finally something comes up that I've been waiting for it was just a few seconds.

God of War 3 came up but it was just a teaser. Nothing of a big news.

The revamped 399.99 PS3 sounds good but still no backwards compatibility.

I felt like I am when I ate a burger but still not as full so I need to reorder for more food. Too much statistics and not much games and showing off the game running and playing. I wanted more games but gave me history.

Jack seemed to stutter alot and lose his words during his presentation. He seemed nervous but still pulled it off. You could tell that Jack isn't really a gamer and made statements take came off as more business corporate and not a real nerd geeky gamer kind of feel. Jim Lee was a real gamer. He really gave us the gamer angle in the presentation.

Sony really need to bring up its game if it plans to keep their 10 year console cycle because I don't think Resistance 2, Killzone 2, MAG,... and those other games that I can't think of out of the top of my head will overcome the title of Gears Of War 2, Fable 2, Last Remnant, Star Ocean, Fallout 3, Rockband 2, Guitar Hero World Tour.

No real time footage just yet. Just a teaser. Oh boy more waiting.

Infamous is now shown, looking good. It would be pretty exciting to be a crazy powerful being like this. Lets get our hands on it! Please Sony!!!

Zipper is on the stage, introducing MAG, Massive Action Game, 256 players online. It will be determined with rankings for squad commands. Character growth is also a thing in this game to improve your player. A demo shows.

I don't know how this large scale commanding system will work but they are really pushing it. Let's hope for the best for this game.

E3 Sony Update: New SKU and more PS3

80GB version for 399.99 without the backwards compatibility and 2 USB ports and no card reader. Its a bigger hard drive of the 40gb version.

Now this is something new. We all thought that Sony wasn't going to give a price cut but here it is. Its kinda butchered but still a price cut.

Think of this as a bigger HDD. Instead of a 40gb you get a 80gb for the same price.

Now they're showing developers enjoying the programming of the playstation. Different companies claiming that they have only used half the processing power of the cell processor. If that is true then lets seem them games!

E3 Sony Update: Now for the good stuff... PS3!!

Talking about integration of google with the playstation...

Sony Online Entertainment is helping out. Showing is DC Universe Online. Introducing it is Jim Lee the comic book artist.

Oh neat!! Now finally someone that is a real gamer on stage. He's talking about everquest and how he was a paladin. DC Universe is okay but not really busting my bubble. Should be alot of fun but we could just wait and check it out.

E3 Sony Update: Video on Playstation Network and PSP and Resistance

Now they're talking about the video service on the playstation network.

Anyways so the PSP is up on stage...

Showing some different bundle packs. A Madden bundle and a Ratchet and Clank bundle. Costing at 199.99, still no price cut.

PSP Resistance is being showed. It seems to be running in real time but I'm not sure. If it is then this is really looking good. One of the best looking PSP games around. Its a 3rd person perspective game. Coming out spring 2009 so we have a while to wait.

They are using Little Big Planet to show the statistics of the Playstation brand.

E3 Sony Update: Upstart the Conference with Resistance

Jack Tretton, saying that it will be one heck of a press conference. We'll have to see as this goes on.

Right now he's just blabbing about the history of the Playstation.

Resistance 2 is the first game they're showing. Its running in real time. Using a bazooka with ah gigantic monster around them. Wow! These are the games we've been waiting for. Looks really grand! Graphically seems to be not as good as I expected it to be. The furniture and the ground seems to be flat and dull but the focus on the monster is really something else. Looks really promising!

8 player coop, 60 player online game experience. Something to really look forward to.

E3 Nintendo Press Conference impressions

It seems that the theme of Nintendo is still casual gamers and more to the general audience. We saw Star Wars The Clone Wars but never really went into it. The showed Grand Theft Auto but never really got into it.

I guess Nintendo really is a general audience and is not a core gamer's system. We wanted to see GTA and Clone Wars but was not given.

For the general audience though they got a hand full of stuff like the WiiSpeak and the WiiMusic with all the exciting family stuff that Nintendo is strong for.

Over all Nintendo is Nintendo and alot of people respect that and unlike Microsoft which appeals to the core gamers are trying to get into the general gamers where they fail miserably. They should just stick to their market and go great in it.

The next surprise is the new nintendo music game.

Showing the drums, looks pretty complicated. But this guy uses it like he's a pro.

Now Miyamoto comes out with a sax and looks good playing it. This is pretty simple and sweet and looks like alot of fun.

WiiMusic is the title. Using the WiiMote and the WiiBalanceBoard for drums, you could make the sounds and music on the screen. 50 different instruments will be playable with these controllers.

They showed the piano, the drums, violin, gong, guitar, and others.

This game will be online capable where you could record and play your performances. They also have the orchestra.

A demonstration of the orchestra, with 6 players playing the mario theme song. Looking great and very promising. Looking like dorks but still we all do when were playing these games.

E3 Nintendo Updates: 4th Surprise

Reggie is coming in stage introducing Wii Motion Plus. It makes the WiiMote more accurate, more precise, and more motion sensitive actions.

WiiSports Resort is the new game to example this equipment. Showing a disc throwing game with a dog, you have to throw it so the dog can catch it.

Reggie shows of the new Jet Skiing game. He's messing up! Not really a gamer.

Now showing the Sword game. Looks really fun. It really looks like this game will be the seller as the first WiiSports was the number one game.

E3 Nintendo Update: 3rd surprise

Talking about Guitar Hero On Tour, the demo graphic of gamers are becoming par between guy and girl gamers on the DS. I'm all for it! More gamer chicks are always welcome in my book.

The next Pokemon si coming soon.

Custom version of Grand Theft Auto is coming to the DS dubbed Chinatown Wars. Trying to appeal to the core audience, I'm not quite sure about this. DS is still for casual gamers.

Reggie gets on the stage and talks about nintendo's stand as the number one in the market right now.

Reggie feels unsatisfied. They want to give us more then what they have right now.

Now talking about the Nintendo DS and sales statistics.

Showing different 3rd party companies, Reggie shows us that they are leading the competition.

They show now the Clone Wars. Using the WiiMote as your lightsaber you get to be a jedi. Coming November.

Next is the Rayman Raving Rabbids TV, some new fun from the same cool game. Coming sometime in fall.

The Wii is getting Call Of Duty World at War. Using the WiiGun you get into the battlefield of the game.

Nintendo says they have surprises today for us so what are they? What is the first?

Animal Crossing is the first. One of the best selling game cube titles will now make a leap to the Wii it will be dubbed Animal Crossing: City Walk.

It will now be a real time. Has in game auctions. It seems to be an MMO type game. You could actually use your Mii as your character.

Here is the new equipment for the Wii. The WiiSpeak, where people will be able to talk to each other. Nintendo's answer to the Xbox live headset. Nintendo's approach is a more living room setting then a personal one on one like they have on Microsoft. Nintendo continues to get the whole family involved in the fun.

Microsoft to use the internet to make the change.

The new interface of Xbox Live is coming soon. The new fall update is looking to be simple and sleek.

Also was the Avatar system. Now you have your own microsoft version of Miis. More selections and more items to choice it really looks good. Though a jump on the bandwagon of avatars, we all wanted it so here it is.

This looks to be the answer to Sony's Home. Its not a vitual word but you could have an online party. It seems to be an online chat room.

Primetime is an online gaming community. 1 vs 100 is an online xbox 360 game that's online. Wow! People are going online. Social online gaming is really going to the next step.

Geometry Wars 2 is shown now.

A sequal to Galaga called Galaga Legions on xbox live next month.

Portal content will be coming exclusively

South Park is having a game also.

Netflix is now part of Xbox live. You could download movies and tv shows straight to your xbox. I guess now your 120gb hdd is now going to fill it up. You could also watch movies at the same time with people you have in your friends list.

So much to chug in. You have a great time searching of stuff about these announcements.

E3 MS Update: Gears of War 2

Starts out with a clip demo of Gears showing the massive war going on with Marcus holding a dead body of the enemy charging into the battle.

Cliff Bleszinski now enter's the stage.

They play a coop game. They pan the scenery and the game is crazy beautiful. Smoke everywhere, stuff falling, alot of things happening. Showing off some fire effects.

You could see that epic has really pushed the hardware as much as possible. The frame rate is fluctuating from smooth to choppy but graphics just everywhere.

They show off the new hordes of Locusts coming from a distance getting your blood boiling. Now showing the Brumack and Marcus and Dom talking about riding it. Awesomeness!

There is also a 5 player cooperative mode called Horde which will bring the 5 to take up hordes and hordes of Locusts. This should be exciting.

November 7 is the re-emergence day.

E3 MS Update: Fable 2 is Finished

"Fable 2 is finished."

Is the opening statement from creative director of Lion Studios, Peter Molyneux. People rejoice and clap. Now they show a clip of the game. Doesn't seem to be real time but looks great. Now its running real time. The game starts from a boy and the game will evolve up to the time your a full blown hero.

Having orbs to bring people playing online to invite them in your game.

October is the date announcement.

E3 MS Update: Resident Evil 5

Jun Takauchi, producer of Resident Evil 5, shows us a playable demo of the game. Running in real time, this game is really looking just like the demos.

BSAA is the new organization Chris Redfield. Coop is available for the game. Essential parts in the game will need the cooperation game play. This is really awesome. It looks just like or even better then the trailers previously shown.

Resident Evil 5 will be available March 13, 2009. It seems to be delayed but it looks to be really promising.

E3 MS Update: Fallout 3

Trailer will be available on Xbox Live. Makers of Oblivion is hard at work with this game. Having a live demo on stage. You could play 1st or 3rd person's perspective.

I'd say this is a merge of a turn based, first person, third person, real time combat all in one game. Pretty awesome.

Fallout's story is that the nuclear war has happened and people from vaults from survive. Its looking good.

At the end of the presentation, they announce that Bethesda is giving extensive exclusives for Xbox 360.

E3 MS Update: Final Fantasy XIII

The biggest news that JRPG fans or any RPG fans or any Square Enix fans... ANY fans of video games is that Microsoft and Square Enix has just announced that Final Fantasy XIII is coming to XBox 360.

When president of Square Enix, John Yamamoto, announced the 3 exclusive games on the Xbox 360 and left the stage, he comes back on stage and interrupts the presentation and askes if he could announce one more thing? That's when the video plays showing the trailer of Final Fantasy showing an extended version of previous trailers of the game.

It was inevitable. Sony's PS 3 was just not cutting it. With the recent release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Sony's sales was up but not as much as they thought. With Sony's recent statement "we are going to make profit", they have no plans of cutting the price. So this is probably why Square Enix sees in the market and decided to go with Microsoft.

This is not an excluxive move by Square Enix but it will definitly destroy Sony fans spirits.

This I believe will be the nail in the coffin. Microsoft fans are saying "Haha! We have Final Fantasy!!!" Will this sell more consoles in Japan? We don't know. Will this sell more consoles in America? Definitly! With 3 exclusives, Square Enix is really on the Microsoft bandwagon. All the people that had the notion of "I'll buy a PS3 when Final Fantasy XIII comes out" now will have that notion disappear.

This is really big! What do you think?

E3 MS Update: Square Enix games

Infinit Undiscovery will come out September 2nd. Star Ocean is also another xbox exclusive. This is coming out spring 2009 and will be the next installment from the great RPG Star Ocean. The Last Remnant is off to make it at the holidays of 2009. They also showed a new footageof the game and it looks awesome. Using the xbox's graphical power to the utmost. Square enix is releasing the game worldwide on Novermber 11, 2009. So much info to eat up from JRPG fans. These 3 games are all exclusives.

This is awesome! Xbox 360 is getting Rockband 2 exclusively this coming september. That is earlier then we expected. It has songs from ACDC and exclusive songs from Guns and Roses. So what will it be fans? Guitar Hero or Rockband?

Guitar Hero IV's Drum Kit Revealed

The news has been going around for a while now about Guitar Hero IV's full band instruments following the nature of Rock Band. Having the essential instruments to put your own garage band is a bass guitar, a lead guitar, a rythem guitar, a singer, and expecially the drums. Since the 3 guitar roles are almost doable in any guitar model, the important instrument is the drums. We all want to shred the drums and fulfill our rock star dreams.

Activision has revealed their first (not finalized just yet) model of their drums for the upcoming continuation of their number one francise Guitar Hero. The cool and most noticable thing is the 2 symbals above the 3 drums, giving it 5 inputs and still have the bass drum peddle. Having the symbles would definitly make a more realistic experience then the current Rock Band drums.

I feel that Neversoft is on the right track in their design on this but will it be enough for people to actually buy a whole new set of instruments? Let's just hope they release those seperately sold instruments the same time they release the game. I don't know about you guys but I already have the X-plorer and the Les Paul and I might not need another guitar (But I'll probably still buy the next guitar for collection purposes). Or will people go ahead and want the GH drums over the Rock Band drums and just stash away their current Rock Band drums and buy the GH drums?

WCG Philippines currently on Eliminations

The World Cyber Games are currently running in The Philippines. Players from all over the country are duking it out in many games as like Warcraft III: DOTA, Counter Strike, and for the first time in asia Guitar Hero, particularly the 3rd installation.

Our very own Team ANAME (for those of you who didn't notice ANAME is short for ANimation and gAME) which is also Team BULATE has joined and is currently scheduled for the 3rd round. They have survived the first 2 days. Lets keep their spirits up by giving them a thumbs up.

Video games has been a great influence to society for quite a while now but still considered as a "TOY" in alot of categories. We must unite as gamers to make them take us seriously and fight the good fight. Video games has taken over all industries like the music and now the movie industry. Video games, now the number one industry, is grossing more then anything out there. Just this 1st quarter of 2008, the industry ranked in $4.46 Billion. That's 27% higher then last quarter which was the 4th quarter of 2007. Compare that to $9 Billion for 2004 for the whole year. We have come a long way and we are taking over!

Rumor: Xbox 360 Slim

The rumor is out that Microsoft is coming out with a shrunked version of their current Xbox 360 console. We don't know how is going to look like but here's a picture of a customized attempt to slim down the 360. No word as to this point whether it will be a slim or a smaller model. Joystiq calls it Xbox 540.

Someone has just posted a comment on our blog here in Animation and Game, stating that Sony has planned to release a new 160GB PS3. Found in the forums of Pro Evolution Soccer by one of our members here, someone has a reliable source from Sony Japan leaking the information and this is what he gave...

Rumor: New Sony Playstation 3 SKUs up on the drawinboard

It seems that Sony is having another SKU in the near future. Rumor has it that Sony will be having anywhere from 120GB to 160GB HDD Playstation 3 SKU up for ideas. This will include the new Dual Shock 3 controller that is rumble enabled. About the backwards compatibility which the 80GB PS3 lacked, we don't know anything about that. The price wills till be $499 so it will be replacing the current 80GB model. Byebye 80GB!

The source of this rumor is an Ars Technica "mole". Right now it's just a rumor where Sony Europe and Sony America has only to say "we don't comment on rumors". But isn't that the same thing that Kaz Harai and all the other Sony officials have said about the rumble enabled controllers?? ...assassin's creed going to the 360??? ...the price cut??? ...and they all came true. But don't take my word for it.

Madden 08 Tournament at Play'N'Trade

Sony still surprises consumers how much they think stuipd consumers are. Sony is coming out with a 40GB SKU PS3. What's the catch you say? It will not be backwards compatible.

Not only was the 80GB PS3 backwards compatibility suffered from alot of different games but now with the 40GB it is totally gone. Sony gives the excuse of "with the upcoming games, you wouldn't care about the olders games". What a bunch of BULL!!!

First time they release the PS3 they say how important and now valuable backwards compatibility is and now they say it isn't. Sony is up to their old tricks again and maybe later say another apology and hope consumers will forgive and forget like what they are trying to pull off with the rumble enabled Dual-Shock 3.

ROCKBAND to cost $170

It is now official that Rockband will cost a reasonable price of $169.99 though it's still expensive for a simple video game but that's just it. It's not just a simple video game. It puts you in the band of a rockstar. It sure is better then the previous $200 dollar price tag amazon was taking orders for.

The XBox 360 and the PS3 will cost $169.99 and the PS2 will cost $159.99. All bundles will come with the Guitar, Drums, Mic and the game itself. You could also still buy them seperately. The guitar will cost $60 for the wired and $80 for the wireless, the drums will cost $80, the mic will cost $30 and the actual game cost $60 dollars for the XBox 360 and PS3 while the PS2 will cost $50.

So if you buy them seperately it will cost you $250. Subtract $60 if your thinking of not buying the guitar because you have already the X-plorer Guitar (eventhough the Rock Band guitar has extra fret buttons closer to the base) then your at $190 and it will still cheaper to buy the bundle.

The XBox 360 and PS3 version will come out on November 23 and the PS2 version will shortly follow up on Dec 10. Just in time for the holidays. I'm sure this one will also sell out. Get your pre-orders!

PGR4 Realizm showcase

I was blown away when i saw this commercial. Project Gotham Racing 4 shows off their graphics and making real life not so distant from the capabilities of the XBox 360. This commercial of PGR4 starts out with real streets and real people and later going to real-time game footage. It's really hard to see where it ends and starts. Microsoft Mission Accomplish: Halo 3 World Record $170 million in 24 hours

Microsoft predicted that Halo 3 will beat all entertainment sales in its first 24 hours of release beating Spiderman 3 and the Harry Potter movies. $170 million in its first day of release including all preorders and release day purchases beats Spiderman 3's $120 million record. Even though movie tickets cost $10 and compared to the $129, $69, $59 prices of Halo 3 it still shows value of sales in the 24 hour period. Wow! I guess this is how Microsoft will get their money back from losing alot of that production cost of the consoles and still losing for every unit sold until now. Go Master Chief!!!

Nintendo Japan is #2 in Mega Giant Companies

Nintendo being the strong video game company that it has been for the years it has been in the market with its ups and downs are now the #2 company in Japan.

Nintendo has 8.34 Trillion yen in its pocket and only being 2nd to japan's mega company Toyota. Nintendo recently beat Canon which has 8.12 Trillion. Don't expect Nintendo to overtake the reigning champion anytime soon because Toyota has 24 trillion in its bank. That's 3 times more so unless nintendo has 3 times more game, consoles, accessories, marketing that's equally as successful as the currrent Wii and DS then it won't happen.

The rumor has been out for a while now and though they didn't announce it at the Tokyo Game Show, we have new evidence that it will happen. The picture above is the new FCC approval of a new model Playstation 3. Sony likes to renumber every new hard drive that they put in. So though it's not confirmed, this is a light to the upcoming price drop that everyone has been talking about. Let's hope it happens. Capcom to make Platinum Games

Capcom's Clover Studios which is responsible for the cool game Okami was liquidated and fromed the company Seeds, with talents of Viewtiful Joe's Atsushi Inaba, Resident Evil's Shinji Mikami and Devil May Cry's Hideki Kamiya. This was an awesome line up. But even before making a single game they had to stop operations.

Seeds was to be merged with company ODD. Now to be called Platinum Games, they will be having a bigger work force then ever before. Lets expect from these guys one heck of game. We'll fill you in when news starts to surface.

Lately I haven't been posting much and it's because of all the Halo 3 madness going on. I've been trying to gather some people to go with me to the Wal-Mart midnight sale for this game. I have some friends that has the game already and so the news is true that the game is already in consumer hands.

There is also an event at GameCrazy (Hollywood Video's game section) that will be giving away extra stuff like TShirts and Used games along with your purchase. Not bad!

I also saw and AD that a guy is selling the legendary edition for $250. I called him up and it was sold. Lucky or unlucky buyer?

As for the end of this article, here is a commercial for Halo 3 and wow did this give me goosebumps.

Radio Shack is now venturing to new things in fear of sales are going down. So they have decided to get into the gaming industry. As a first step they are starting out with major games and not all. Starting September 24 they will have Halo 3 for sale and some major ones. Not more then 14 games from the big 2 consoles. Yes I said 2 and not 3. They have decided not to have the PS3 in store. I feel bad for Sony.

Radio Shack's stocks has gone done 6.6% last month and is taking steps to prevent it from happening again. The growing industry of video games was the step to go. And this is how they are starting out and said if all goes well they will have the full line up. Hey! Maybe they'll have PS3s now also!

World Of Warcraft Account sells for $10,000

We know that online gaming accounts has been sold before but not as much as this. 7,000 euro dollars was the price ($9,700) for a Rogue with the best items. The character had Legendary Swords from Illidan Stormrage and 4/5 of a Tier 6 armor set. The guy that sold it, Zeuzo, is currently making another character also a Rogue.

What's more sad is that the guy that bought the account has not been seen since Sept 3. There is only a few explanations for this. One could be that he's tired of playing WoW and retired or and emergency and has to do something else or the account might of been banned because selling of accounts is not permitted in the terms and conditions of Wow. Sad!!!!

Here are the figures of the month of August. Stated that the video game industry had a total sales of $993 million in this month alone, it has increased almost %50 since last year are clearly topping the movie industry.

Nintendo Wii: 403.6K (4 million total)

Nintendo DS: 383.3K (12.7 million total)

Microsoft Xbox 360: 276.7K (6.3 million)

Sony PlayStation 2: 202K (39.1 million total)

Sony PSP: 151.2K (8.3 million total)

The PS3 stays at last place once again. Michael Pachter's prediction of 2 to 1 sale of the 360 over PS3 is very much a given with these figures, not to mention that September is when we get to finish the fight.

The question still stands if this is really worth $50 dollars more for few designs on the console and different colored accessories? One thing that is different then the Premium pack is the included Charge 'N' Play kit that comes with this package, a $20 value. So your actually paying $ dollars more for the paint job. Maybe for people that has an 1080p HDMI enabled TV that chose the 360 as their console of choice but don't have it since they bought the unit that don't have it yet, they could use that as an excuse to get this and sell their current 360. There you have it. Michael Pachter mind powers of predicting the video game future is true. Being announced at the Tokyo Game Show is two different announcements but same category.

The PS3 is getting yet another price drop but not directly. This is being expected sooner then thought previously. They are coming out with a lower model, the 40GB PS3. 40GB you say??? Yes 40GB PS3. Its going to cost $399 hence the price drop. If this trend keeps going then maybe we could looking at $299 for the 20GB version and $199 for one that don't have a HDD. But anyways, with a $399 price and competing directly now with the XBox 360's price of $449 $349 $279, we'll finally see a more even match of which really do people want since now they have the choice when they have about $400 to spend. Will they get a PS3 or a 360??

The second announcement is the PS2 is also getting a price drop. The current 129$ console will now be $99. Nothing really to discuss about here except if you still don't have a PS2 in your house and your read this video game news freakin get one already. I mean, get it when the $99 PS2s come out.

Judging by the picture alone above, it looks like the PS3 is getting the supposably exclusive Eternal Sonata for the XBox 360. This picture was taken from Joystiq.com and is part of the ESRB rating the game. Namco Bandai denies it though, saying that it is an XBox 360 exclusive. Famitsu is saying that its coming out next year spring. So what's really going on here NAMCO BANDAI?!

US Shares Europe's PS3 Compatibility Pain

Oh so it hurts!!! The pain!!!

Not really physical pain but and not all that bad since everyone practically has a PS2 anyways so its not really all that worth mentioning but I will anyways. The backward compatibility of the PS3 80gig version of Sony suffers from the same backward compatibility of that of Europe. Here is a quote from Joystiq.com stating some problems that may occur on some of the game.

-God of War -- 60GB: "No major problems for this title." 80GB: "During various FMV sequences throughout the title, the audio plays overlapped by static audio distortion."

The whole thing about the Circuit City has been on hold for a while now. They have their "Motion to Quash" still pending and still waiting for results of that but what was interesting in the podcast was that CheapyD discusses that he gets alot of secret intel from circuit city now because of this publicity that's going on.

Aerosmith Themed Guitar Hero

This just from Joystiq.com with an article with Aerosmith. From Billboard, Joe Parry says that Guitar Hero IV will be Aerosmith centered and to be the dedicated to them. So the well knowned guitarist, Joe says they are working hand in hand with the developers.

We can't say if its Activition or Red Octane but since Activition has rights to Guitar Hero now and Hermonix now has Rock Band then its pretty much safe to spectulate that Activition will be doing this game. This is probably a leak and no one is suppose to know that Guitar Hero IV is in the works even before the release of III.

Analyst says Asian MMO sales of $2.5 Billion

Asian MMOs are very much diverse and very different from American MMOs. They could have mini characters shooting cabbage or rocks against each other and be a successful game or have a side-scroller adventure platform game and have massive multi players all at the same time and still be fun and profitable. The asian markets of MMO is so many that last year they made $2.5 billion in revenues and is expected to grow more. Analyst says 20%. I say that americans should embrace this concept and not just stick to WoW. Try something else, they might just like it.

PSP-2000s now available

No one really waited for this release since its not much of a difference but the new PSPs are coming out dubbed PSP-2000. It comes in slivery white and sells for 200 dollars and comes with Daxter and Family Guy and with a 1Gig Memory Stick. That's alot of "and"!

WAIT!!!! Have you seen one in stores? Apparently not yet so what really going on Sony? Today was supposed to be the actual release date but nothing has been popping up. Others say during Christmas but since no one really is anticipating this release, no one really know too.

Halo 3 in Production

Everyone is on their toes waiting for Halo. Joystiq.com now reports that Halo 3 is done and in the mass production stage. Everyone is wanting a copy of this. The game is currently being mass produced being copied to discs being wrapped and the Spartan Helmet is probably getting ready for war. GT5 Prologue is Coming for the Holidays

Sony is pulling strings and everything it can to get this game out. It's just a prologue so it's the full game where there are hundreds of cars and tons of race courses. This version will have 40 cars, and 3 tracks that being Eigar Nordwand, the London City Track, and Suzuka. It will also have online play with 16 simultaneous players and the game will run at a full 1080p at 60fps, though the replays will be 30 just it's predecessor Gran Turismo HD. Another detail to mention is that it will be downloadable on the PSN and also available on Blu-Ray disc. The full GT game will still be on year 2008.

The Playstation 2 has been behind the battlefield for quite sometime killing competition without the enemy knowing. Their new offense strategy? A SingStar with Mics Playstation 2 bundle pack. Nex-Gen Console Sales Figures by Launch

Here is a nice little graph about the nex-gen consoles. We could say alot about this graph. This graphs, provided to us by Gamasutra, shows by the million how many of each console has been sold comparing each other of launch month by month. We could see that the Playstation 3 has out sold the 360 on the 2nd and 3rd month in the market but fall short because of disappointments. Of course this was well spread out the gaming community and people started to say "Sony said it will be worth the wait now now this? I'm just going to get a 360, kicks butt anyway." This was about the 2nd and 3rd month of the PS3 life cycle which was during the beginning of the 2nd year the XBox 360 was in market. That's where we see the big spike up of sales for the 360 at the 14th month of it's life cycle. As for the Wii, it's just dominating in sales, earning money from the start unlike Sony and Microsoft is losing money.

I am one of the victims here with this Vista only DirectX 10. Developers have been avoiding the DirectX10 because of the exact same reason most companies are making games for the 360. Well this might be just the game for the person that still lives with his mom and waited for his brother to buy a nex-gen console for them and got a Wii and have been starving for some real action non-cute serious game to come. Those people are probably getting ready to pick up the game. This might not be the actual box art but its nice though.

NiGHTS Journey of Dreams for Wii is Delayed

Even though only just a rumor, NiGHTS Journey of Dreams, sequel to the long gone Saturn Game NiGHTS into Dreams, is being delayed indefinitely. First quarter of 2008 is the said release date now but who knows. I guess it will miss the holiday rush. It could be a bad thing or a good thing. Bad because they won't be able to get in the action of compulsive buying of the holiday shoppers but maybe good because it will avoid the big hitters and maybe able to find a soft spot in the calender where people could see NiGHTS for what it really is. I loved the first game. There is no reason for me to dislike this one.

Epic says No Unreal Tournament III Demo

They didn't do it for Gears of War and now they are not doing it again on Unreal Tournament III. Mark Rein, boss at Epic, said that making a demo just takes time away from making the actual game. Mark was really firm in the No Demo theme of things. People are really starting to dislike Mark Rein and his more to be woed by Sony. He's always smiling on the camera but deep down he's planning on making alot of Gears loyalist pretty mad. Atleast Cliffy B. was open to the idea of demos. But I guess his boss is Mark as well.

Slow times

Today has been a slow day for video games. I've been looking around everywhere from joystiq to kotaku to gametrailers and to official sites like xbox.com and nintendo.com but nothing new except some things we already know. Everyone is talking about PAX but nothing good there also. Maybe microsoft was right in sticking to the "NOW" theme they had at E3 because I want game NOW! Bioshock is surely the game to get now but I'm more excited about Blue Dragon.

Maybe I'll just go to sleep until Aug 29 (that's 3 days from now) and get my copy of Blue Dragon. I want it!! I want it now!!!Then that could get me busy until Lost Odyssey! Great!!!

I'll try to scoop up more interesting things to post. I didn't bother to post the unnecessary.

Wii is Catching Up

If you guys haven't noticed we here at Animation Game put the banner of NexGenWars who keeps track of the sales for each of the big 3. And now the Wii is gaining and fast! Just last month it was 10.9 million XBox 360 and 8 million Wii. Now it's 11.1 million XBox 360 and 10.1 Wii. With this rate of sales for Nintendo, the Wii, even with XBox 360's 1 year head start, will out sell the current leading XBox 360. Everyone just wants to swing that bat or bowl that ball. As for the PS3 it's still there.

More Wii to come to the US instead of Japan

Sales of Wii has been up and stayed up there. Until now there is no Wii to be found in stores. The great amazing Michael Pachter says this.

"Wii sales remain strong, with an apparent increase in supply during the quarter. This increase is inconsistant with reports that Nintendo has had difficulty in increasing its manufacturing capacity, suggesting to us that the company has diverted supply from other areas (perhaps Japan) to the U.S."

He said this weeks back and now we're getting news that this is what Nintendo is doing. Man! Is this guy a good or what? Is he the real world Isaac Mendez (HEROES)?

No Bioshock on PS3, period.

Ken Levine of 2k Boston, creator of the well talked about Bioshock, has dismissed the rumor of Bioshock coming out on the PS3.

"I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."

Seems to be it was old game codes from original plans and experiments until it went exclusive on the 360. Sorry sony owners, no bioshock for you. Go over next door to your friend and play it there.

Gran Turismo 5 News

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is probably one of the titles that's responsible of saving the PS3. As we get news, it looks to be doing its job. It is said that GT5 will have car damage like they did in Forza Motorsports. But also they are proud of saying that they'll have better AI and better physics. They also take pride in nice elegant designed interiors of the car models. I can't wait to see this game in action. For now we'll have to settle with Gran Turismo HD.

Microsoft Also Not Going to E for All

So Sony isn't going and Capcom isn't going and Sega isn't going. But Microsoft is Nintendo's buddy right? ...and they're going right? Nope! Microsoft skips on the event and plans to do other things during this time. So with Sony not going, and Microsoft not going, this event will probably turn out to be a nintendo fanboy event. Don't get me wrong, I love nintendo and I love my wii but the excitement has been divided down to a third of the excitement of the event. So we'll see what really happens but my excitement has gone down for sure for October 18-19.

Ever heard of the Virtual Boy? Nintendo made it! How about he 3D Glasses from Sega? Now Mitsubishi is trying to have a try on the 3D industry for games. Mitsubishi plans on making movies as well as game that run on their very own built 3D glasses.Mitsubishi also said that they'll be doing it on Blu-Ray so Nintendo is out of the question and Microsoft is HD-DVD so I guess it will be Sony that will benefit from this venture.

IDG Entertainment should pretty down hearing that Sony will not be attending the conference. But not just Sony, NCSoft, Sega, and Capcom will not be at the show as well. We still have Nintendo though and EA. Other few attending also is THQ and Konami. So it should still be a good show.

Maybe the frustrations of E3 lead to doubt about E for All. This really sucks for IDG Ent. so they must really do something fast before the public start to doubt in going to this event.

Virtual Fighter 5 Online Lookin Good for the 360

The 360 version of Virtual Fighter 5 is really starting to look great and said to be looking better then the PS3. Especially the online feature which was excluded in the PS3 version of the game, there is a video from gamersyde showing the online gameplay itself. Like DOA online gameplay there is a little bit of delay on it but still looking better then DOA. See for yourself on this video.

Analyst was wrong on PS3 and XBox 360 sales

Well known game analyst Michael Pachter predicted that, because of the price drop, the PS3 will out sell the 360 in the month of July. This just in at Joystiq and the numbers are in from NPD. This month the Wii out sold any console including its very own Nintendo DS, but we want to look at the PS3 vs XBox 360 sales. PS3 sold 159k units as the 360 sold 170k units. Almost there Pachter but no cigar. Maybe it was about to happen since usually the 360 sells 2x more but this time came close. Probably the counter price drop of Microsoft made the difference.

Project Gotham Racing 4 on Oct. 2

Project Gotham Racing 4 is coming out the 2nd of October. PGR3 is so far the best looking racing game on any console and this next game is just said to be the same. Making all other racing games look less likely, watching and playing Project Gotham Racing just makes you feel like your actually there. Europe is getting this game October 12.

The 65 nanometer XBox 360 dubbed Falcon

Well news is coming out that the 65 nanometer chip is about to be a reality. Compared to the current 90 nanometer chip that the XBox 360 is currently using, this is said to be less power consuming and heat generating. Theoretrically this is going to lessen or eliminate the Red Ring of Death.

The current HDMI enabled motherboards are dubbed Zephyr which still uses the current 90nm chips. But the later Falcon motherboard will sport the new 65nm chips. This new technology, though is still said to be implemented first quarter of next year, on the holidays will already be some on shelves. You have to be lucky enough if you want a more reliable one and nab one and take it home.

This rumor came from Joystiq which got it from Joystiq HQ France which got it from Gamespot which got from Gamespot Korea which got it from a person saying that Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming to the XBox 360 and to be announced at the Tokyo Game Show.

A PS3 game is not yet said.

XBox 360 Dashboard Update

The XBox 360 Fall Update has a few rumored to be quite juicy. They say that it will hav Xvid support meaning you could just go ahead and burn your videos directly to a disc and play 'em in plain AVI format or of sort. That would be cool but it might stun the popularity of the Video Marketplace as stated in Joystiq.com, and also on the rumor mill is the IPTV blade for quick internet tv access, a PIP setting, an much prettier slideshow for you pictures. But what I'm most excited about, as a gamer, is the Clan functionality. Now we're getting somewhere and start building clans and guilds to get some teamwork going! Woohoo!!!
