Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD

The war is not on the nex-gen consoles but also in the movie industry as to which format is going to be the next big thing. Is it Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. We all know that the PS3 is built with Blu-Ray and that Microsoft is supporting HD-DVD. There is 2 parts in this battle... Both are big competitors and all are giving the best blows they have.

First off is Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Animation is abandoning Blu-Ray and sticking HD-DVD. This means that Transformers and Shrek the Third will be HD-DVD exclusive. This really gives advantage towards HD-DVD which they have really been needing since everyone has been saying that currenlty Blu-Ray has been in the lead.

The next part of the battle is that Twentieth Century Fox and MGM Pictures (which most of the releases are handled by Fox) are abandoning support to HD-DVD and staying with Sony supported Blu-Ray format. It is said that 29 titles are on the way by the end of the year.

So the war goes on and the format that is to dominate is still uncertained but sales in Blu-Ray has been ahead of the competition. But big player Paramount and Dreamworks are really going to push HD-DVDs back.
